Proposal of In-plane to Vertical Optical Coupler Based on Tapered Hollow Waveguide

Abstract

A novel 90° bend device based on a tapered hollow waveguide is proposed. Modeling shows no-noticeable wavelength and polarization dependence. Also insertion loss of below-1.8dB and -1.4dB for TM and TE mode is predicted respectively.
