Photonic Integrated Circuits for Advanced Modulation Formats

Abstract

Advanced modulation formats are indispensable for transmission at 40Gbit/s and above. Such formats require complex coding/decoding processes which are best achieved using photonic integrated circuits (PICs). This paper presents selected recent achievements in this field.
