Abstract
In semi classical theory frame we analyze Gaussian beam vs nonlinear medium interaction, Z scan technique fundament, using Helmholtz equation, beam propagation in paraxial approximation and considering the optical parameters, refractive index n and absorption coefficient α, as intensity nonlinear functions, i.e. n (I) and α (I). The solution implements the SSFM BPM in 3D, evolving in the z axis. Numerical results show that it is possible to control diffraction, absorption and refraction parameters in a nonlinear medium using different thickness.
