Solving Light Delivery Problems Using Hollow Core Fibers: Where Angels Fear to Tread

Abstract

Microstructured fibers can guide light down a hollow core with surprisingly low losses. We describe how this can be used to enable delivery of pulses with lengths, energies and wavelengths which would otherwise be unthinkable.
