Optimal design of aperiodic, vertical silicon nanowire structures for photovoltaics

Abstract

We use the transfer matrix method and the random walk algorithm to design an aperiodic, vertically-aligned silicon nanowire array that maximizes solar absorption. We achieved a 2.35 times enhancement in ultimate efficiency.
