Coherence Reduction by Nonlinear Propagation of Optical Chaos Generated from Semiconductor Laser Dynamics

Abstract

With an optically injected laser, chaotic signals are generated for further bandwidth broadening by fiber nonlinearities. The full width at half-maximum of fringe visibility reduces from 4.1 mm to 1.2 mm for precise chaotic ranging.
