Laser Cooled Strontium Ion Source

Abstract

We present a cold strontium ion source consisting of a magneto-optical trap (MOT) modified to create a Low Velocity Intense Source (LVIS). The slow beam of atoms is photo-ionized to produce a velocity-tunable ion source.
