Power Extraction Efficiency in High-Order Mode Fiber Lasers

Abstract

Numerical simulations are used to study the effect of mode intensity nulls on power extraction efficiency in Yb and Er HOM fiber lasers. The efficiency approaches the quantum defect limit at kW power levels.
