Organic semiconductors for photovoltaic and light-emitting devices: status and promise

Abstract

Solid-state devices that employ thin films of organic semiconductor have been the subject of active research over the past 20 years and have received increased interest in recent years by the industrial sector. In particular, organic photovoltaic [1] and organic light-emitting devices [2] have the potential to spawn a new generation of low-cost products with thin and flexible form factors in the areas of power generation and next generation solid-state lighting.
