Optimization of a Surface Plasmon Enhanced Metal-Semiconductor-Metal Photodetector on Gallium Arsenide

Abstract

The effects of grating geometry on a Surface Plasmon enhanced planar Metal-Semiconductor-Metal photodetector on GaAs are investigated via Finite-difference Time-domain simulations. Substrate absorption is increased by a factor greater than 10 without compromising time response.
