Measurement Of The Optical Properties Of Gold At Cryogenic Temperatures

Abstract

Optical constants of gold are measured at cryogenic temperatures. The imaginary part of epsilon exhibits a drop at longer wavelengths. This directly demonstrates that performance of metal-based optical devices can be improved by cryogenic cooling.
