Ultrafast Optical Sampling Using Nondegenerate Two-photon Absorption in a GaAs Photodiode

Abstract

We demonstrate optical sampling based on nondegenerate two-photon absorption in a GaAs photodiode, using sampling pulses below the half-bandgap. The system is capable of resolving a quasi- 2 Tb/s signal with low background photocurrent.
