Surface Plasmons in Young’s Experiment Modulate the Spatial Coherence of Light

Abstract

We demonstrate theoretically that the coherence properties of light may be modulated by surface plasmons in Young’s interference experiment. This is promising for the development of “coherence converting” devices for applications such as coherence tomography.
