Abstract

In this talk I will describe recent advances in plasmon dispersion control and actively modulated devices enabled by new plasmonic components including i) metal-insulator-metal plasmon waveguide ‘metamaterials’ that facilitate dispersion control to enable very high positive as well as negative refractive index in the visible and near infrared ii) electro-optic modulation of metal-insulator-metal resonator transmission iii) silicon and silica nanowire plasmonic resonators, iv) all-optical modulation of plasmon propagation and v) prospects for plasmonic solar cells.
