A Finite-Element Analysis of Errors in Three-Flat Tests Caused by Rotation Dependent Flat Deformations

Abstract

Rotation of wedged flats as part of three-flat test procedures leads to rotation angle dependent deformations. We estimate the magnitude of the deformations and the effect on the test uncertainty using finite element modeling.
