Abstract
We have fabricated ultra-compact visible lasers based on photonic crystal and microdisk geometries within InGaP/InGaAlP quantum well material. These red lasers combine ultra-small mode volumes, low threshold powers and high switching frequencies with cavity volumes of below 0.01μm3, and are ideally suited for the needs of spectroscopic sources for microfluidic analysis.
