Adiabatic Taper Coupler as Modal Filter in Multimode Fiber Transmission

Abstract

Adiabatic multimode-to-single-mode taper coupler is proposed as a modal filter enabling selective detection of only the fundamental mode in 10Gbit/s multimode fiber transmission system. Error-free transmission over 300m legacy multimode fiber is achieved.
