Microcavities in Three-Dimensional Photonic Crystals

Abstract

Designed point-defects, or microcavities, have been achieved in high- index-contrast 3D photonic crystals. Such cavities may possess ultra-high quality factors and be robust against fabrication distortions. Future applications in cavity quantum electrodynamics will be discussed.
