Microwave Frequency Switching of an Optically Injected Semiconductor Laser

Abstract

Nonlinear dynamics of an optically injected semiconductor laser is used to generate microwave oscillations. An intensity-modulated injection results in a microwave frequency modulation. Fast switching between 14.87 GHz and 15.26 GHz is completed in 200ns.
