Abstract
Aberrations have a detrimental effect on the imaging properties of confocal and multiphoton microscopes. Adaptive optics can compensate for such effects and restore diffraction limited imaging. Experimental results allow quantification of specimen-induced aberrations and those introduced by the optical system. We also discuss efficient methods of aberration measurement.
