Ambiguity and Wigner distribution functions and the propagation of coherence functions

Abstract

Insight into the effect of diffraction on the coherence function associated with the wave field from an object can be gained through an inspection of the ambiguity and Wigner distribution functions associated with that wave field. Examples discussed include that of the wave field from an incoherent 3-D object.
