Exploiting Polarization in Nonlinear Optical Measurements of Biological Interfaces

Abstract

Strategies are described for mining the rich structural information in nonlinear optical studies of biological interfaces. Using relatively simple measurements acquired with a novel ellipsometric polarization analysis method, chiroptical phenomena observed in second harmonic and sum-frequency surface measurements can be interpreted using simple orientational models.
