Ionization of Atoms in Few-cycle Laser Pulses

Abstract

The numbers of photoelectrons produced by few-cycle laser pulses in a pair of opposite directions are not always equal to each other. This asymmetry varies with the carrier-envelope phase, the pulse duration, the laser polarization, and the kinetic energy of photoelectrons.
