Abstract

The FDTD method is applied to analyze the spectral characteristics of resonant periodic waveguides and associated spatial field patterns. Impulse excitation yields the spectra of the various, distinct propagating waves. The standing-wave pattern of the leaky waveguide mode at resonance is clearly visualized.
