Fan-out Techniques using Planar-Integrated Free-Space Optics

Abstract

Fan-out of signals represents an important task in optical interconnection and clocking. Basic principles that can be used for its implementation are wavefront splitting, pupil division and cascading. Here, we discuss optical fan-out in terms of fundamental concepts and practical issues.
