Effects of atmospheric turbulence on partially coherent beams

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We will show that under certain conditions partially coherent beams are less affected by atmospheric turbulence than are fully coherent laser beams. In particular we will show that sources of lower degree of spatial coherence generate beams which are more stable than those produced by sources of high degree of spatial coherence.
