Photonic band gap in a disordered two-dimensional structure: transmission properties of porous anodic alumina films

Abstract

We present out-of-plane transmission spectra of disordered porous anodic alumina films infiltrated with various liquids. A distinct drop in transmission in the visible spectral region, corresponding to a photonic band gap, is observed for both H- and E-polarizations.
