Abstract
Small deviations of the shape of dielectric microresonators supporting high-Q modes from symmetry lead to onset of chaotic ray dynamics and the suppression of the mode lifetimes. We demonstrate that even regular modes are strongly affected by small deformations, due to chaos-assisted tunneling, and develop a theory of this effect.
