Simulations of scattered light control algorithms for coronagraphic high contrast imaging

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Several algorithms have been developed for space-based coronagraphs to minimize scattered light so that contrast ratios of 109 can be achieved, thereby enabling planetary detection. This paper compares sensitivities of image-based algorithms using near-field diffraction models of proposed space coronagraph designs. Modeling results are verified on ground-based testbeds.
