Abstract
Singularities of geometrical optics (caustics), of scalar waves (a.k.a. phase dislocations, nodal lines and optical vortices) and vector waves (lines of pure circular or pure linear polarization) will be described, with a historical accent but emphasizing recent discoveries: knotted dislocation lines, universal interference colours, and the singularities of crystal optics.
