Abstract

Phase retrieval based on the tomographic reconstruction of the Wigner distribution functions is used to design diffractive optical elements. Phase-Space tomography is shown to provide a tool for addressing design constraints critical for applications related to optical interconnects. The design problem is discussed for Fraunhofer and Fresnel diffraction.
