Abstract

Efficient coupling of light between different photonic crystal waveguiding structures (i.e., between a slab waveguide and a photonic crystal waveguide (PCW)) is essential for integration of optical functionalities in photonic crystals. In this talk, we explain the main physical mechanisms involved in such coupled structures.
