Abstract

We present measurements of the ion and fusion neutron yields from explosions of deuterium clusters irradiated with 100 TW laser pulses. These experimental observations are consistent with simulations which predict that the Coulombic explosion efficacy is determined by the ratio of the cluster ionization time to the intrinsic expansion time.
