Abstract

With the high irradiances involved in mode-locked biomedical applications, generation of multiphoton events will determine the relative effectiveness of these procedures. Our initial measurements on cultured cells have shown that nonlinear absorption can create relevant cellular metabolic changes, even below the rise of thermal damaging effects.
