Sensitivity enhancement of silicon-photonics-based ultrasound sensor via BCB cladding

Abstract

Low photo-elastic response of SOI sensors limits the development of optical detection of ultrasound. We demonstrate ultrasound sensitivity enhancement in silicon waveguides by BCB over-cladding replacing Silica.
