Abstract

We compare the noise figure (NF) of chip-based tunable microwave photonic bandpass filters using stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) gain and loss responses, respectively. The filter using SBS loss scheme exhibits 10-dB lower NF than that using SBS gain scheme.
