High Harmonic Generation Via an Electro-Optomechanical Oscillator

Abstract

An Electro-Opto-Mechanical Oscillator (EOMO) has achieved up to 270th order harmonic generation from a 37-MHz fundamental mechanical oscillation, which is more than 2× larger in harmonic number and 1000× higher in harmonic frequency compared to the previous mark [1]. The key to achieving such high-order harmonic generation is the EOMO’s ability to produce large motional oscillation amplitude via an electromechanical feedback loop, while its optomechanical coupling converts the large oscillation amplitude into highly nonlinear modulation of the transmitted optical field.
