Abstract
We show that nonlinear effects—including four wave mixing in chip-based semiconductor optical amplifier gain—impose limits to the wavelength spacing of combs in Recirculating-Frequency-Shifters (RFS), but can be mitigated by operating SOA in deeper saturation.
