Record-sensitivity Gb/s receiver for free-space applications based on phase-sensitive amplification

Abstract

We report error-free, 1 photon-per-bit receiver sensitivity using 10.52 Gb/s QPSK data and a half-rate FEC, enabled by a low-noise phase-sensitive pre-amplifier as well as injectionlocking-based pump recovery at sub nano-watt powers.
