Abstract

We demonstrate tunable orientation of gold nanorods in colloidal suspensions via plasmonic resonant solitons. Wavelength-dependent polarizability and optical torque lead to synthetic anisotropic optical properties (birefringence and dichroism) of the nanorods along the soliton channel.
