Measuring the spin-dependent lateral force in evanescent fields

Abstract

We report the quantitative measurement of the out-of-plane spin-dependent optical force acting on a microsphere in evanescent fields. The measurement was made via a thermally-limited floating-probe detection scheme with extreme sensitivity and high dynamic range.
