Optical power limiters based on intersubband polaritonic metasurfaces

Abstract

We present a novel class of power limiting polaritonic metasurfaces exploiting saturable intersubband absorption in semiconductor quantum wells coupled to plasmonic resonators. Power limiting is experimentally verified and the metasurface performance limits are theoretically analyzed.
