Abstract
The development of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers1 (VC-SEL) is of great interest for optical switching, optical fiber transmission, optical interconnection and optical computing. To that end we have studied such devices theoretically and experimentally; the structure presented here can, for the first time to our knowledge, emit two wavelengths simultaneously.
