Abstract

As a compact solid-state source for blue light, laser diode-based second-harmonic generation (SHG) devices hold much promise for use in optical storage and laser printer devices. SHG by quasi-phase matching (QPM) offers the advantages of shorter wavelength accessibility and high conversion efficiency.1 For a higher output QPM-SHG, LiTaO1 has been found to be an excellent material2 because of high resistance to photoretractive damage and large nonlinear coefficient.
