Abstract

We cascade an ultrafast all-optical soliton dragging logic gate (SDLG)1 with a soliton trapping AND-gate (STAG)2 and measure an energy contrast of ~12:1 at the output. SDLGs exhibit fan-out and cascadability, although the output is in time shift keyed format where a 1 (one) corresponds to a pulse within the clock window and a 0 (zero) to a pulse outside the clock window. Since STAGs are sensitive to the timing of the input pulses and provide an energy contrast at the output, STAGs convert the time shift keyed output to an amplitude shift keyed signal that can be measured with a detector.
