Abstract

One possible way to couple the orthogonally polarized waves (ordinary wave with wavevector ko and extraordinary wave with wavevector ke) in photorefractive crystal is to record a grating with grating vector K = ke − ko and to assure the conditions of anisotropic diffraction (i.e., diffraction with change of polarization of diffracted wave to orthogonal with respect to the readout wave).1
