Abstract

The potential uses in surgery and remote sensing have generated substantial recent interest in the thulium 2.0-µm laser.1 Several groups have reported evidence of an upconversion loss mechanism in Tm:YAG2-3 In this work, we have applied a technique previously reported for studying the upconversion process in Cr,Tm,Ho:YAG to the similar material Cr,Tm:YAG.4
