Fundamental-mode 2-μm solid-state laser end-pumped with 80-W fiber coupled GaAlAs laser diode emission

Abstract

Six watts of cw fund a mental-mode 2-ptn radiation were obtained from an end-pumped Tm:YAG zigzag style resonator pumped with 20 W of fiber-coupled GaAlAs laser diode emission. Higher 2-pm output power was achieved by increasing the number of resonator bouncepoints (end-pumping ports) from two to eight. All together, 80 W GaAlAs of laser diode emission was delivered to the eight bouncepoint laser through eight optical fibers.
