Abstract

Tunable optical filters are needed for channel selection and noise filtering in amplified wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) systems. Various optical filters have been suggested for this use including fiber Fabry-Perot interferometers,1 Mach-Zehnder interferometers,2 liquid-crystal etalon filters,3 and Ti:LiNbO3 electro-optic wavelength filters4 etc. In this paper, we report a simple etalon filter that can be tuned with temperature.
