Abstract

Previous work has developed the concept of a multipass phase conjugate regenerative amplifier (MECCA)1 where multiple reflections occur in a cavity formed by a Fabry-Perot etalon and an SBS cell. The frequency shift that takes place upon SBS reflection walks the central frequency of a master oscillator pulse from one etalon transmission window to the next, thereby permitting passive injection into and extraction from the linear cavity after a predetermined number of amplifying round trips.
